At CES 2018, we announced support for the React Native framework and demoed an RN sample app running on Roku. As expected, the reception was positive. With a groundswell of interest in cross-platform development, this year at CES 2019, we wanted to up the ante by showcasing the platform reach we’re now able to support by highlighting the development benefits of building a unified user experience with React Native on You.i Engine One.

My fellow Sales Engineers and I created a new sample app, pulling data from The Movie Database (TMDb), and demonstrated seamless live updates to content and the user interface for:

  • Roku
  • tvOS
  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Android TV (NVIDIA SHIELD)
  • Samsung Tizen
  • PS4
  • Xbox One
  • iOS and Android handset/tablet

The best part? Updates run concurrently across all target platforms. An industry first.

Note: The video above highlights Roku, tvOS, Android TV, and Xbox One.
