I hurt myself for years by refusing to ask for help.
The other day I saw a post on social media that said—Hyper-independence is a trauma response. And it stuck with me.
When I was eight years old, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. I had seizures until I was about 14, and was off medication at 15.
