Make sure you don’t skip out on meals! Skipping meals can affect your mood and can result in mood swings and random bursts of energy or grogginess.

What should you eat to boost your mood?

Protein

Helps slow the absorption of carbohydrates in your blood and can increase the release of dopamine (the feel good hormone that is usually released when you exercise). Not only does your mood improve but you’ll also have energy for several hours later on. Best protein options:

  • Eggs
  • Poultry
  • Seafood

Vitamin D

Helps relieve mood disorders (ex. Seasonal depression). Although many believe that vitamin D is only possible through sunlight, you can also get it from food too! Best vitamin D food options:

  • Milk
  • Egg yolks
  • Fatty fish: tuna, mackerel, and salmon

Other vitamins

Folate and vitamin B-12 can help depression and rather than taking supplements, try accessing these vitamins through food!

  • Folate is found in broccoli, lentils, oatmeal, oranges and dark leafy greens
  • B-12 helps with your energy and can be accessed through cottage cheese, lean beef, and salmon

Eating a mixture of these foods can help you staying fresh throughout the day without the sugar spikes and crashes! Take care of your health as health is mental physical and emotional, and food can play an important role of how you feel!
