The recent feud between Kanye West and Jay-Z is not the first time these two moguls of the hip-hop industry have gone at each other. But from all appearances, there is much talk about this being the straw that broke the camel’s back and that it may very well end years of business collaboration and friendship between the two artists.

Wondering what all the fuss is about? Recently, the internet and fans witnessed as Kanye West delivered a mouthful of ranting on stage during his ‘The Life of Pablo Tour’ in Seattle. The oral delivery of Kanye was not verses to his new rap song but more of an announcement of the end to ‘The Throne.’ The rapper was quick to reveal information which would lead fans to believe that Jay Z was far from being the good friend.

No Playdates Between the Celebrity Babies

Blue Ivy, now age four and daughter of Jay-Z, and Beyoncé is one of the most recognizable celebrity children in the music industry. North West, who is just a year younger and the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, is also a superstar in her own right. And given that Daddy Jay-Z and Poppa Kanye seem to be such good friends, it would be easy to assume that the two celebrity babies have plenty of play dates. But apparently, the current beef between the rap moguls suggests otherwise.

In front of all the fans in attendance and others who would soon be able to download the footage as it went viral. Kanye West revealed that ‘Our kids ain’t never even played together.’ Sounds like a friendship gone real wrong, because tell me this… Who would not want their child to be friends with the heir to the Kardashian empire? When you are dealing with two super powerful celebrity couples, their child or children can easily refuse play dates requests — but certainly, not with each other!

There was something in this aspect of the rant that led fans to think that the bad guy was not Kanye, but Jay-Z. Did Jay-Z think that Blue Ivy was better than North? Were there playdate requests made by Kim that was rejected by Beyoncé?

No Sympathy after Paris Robbery

Not only was Kanye making it publicly known that Jay-Z didn’t facilitate play dates between their kids, but West also called out Jay-Z and his response to the robbery in Paris.

The whole entertainment industry was in shock to get breaking news that revealed that Kim Kardashian-West was robbed in Paris. This was no regular grab your purse and run situation. Kim was bound, gagged, and robbed at gunpoint while celebrating her 36th birthday in the city of love. No doubt hubby Kanye West was troubled by this news and was even forced to cut short a live show to make sure his wife was ok.

As shocking as this news was to the world, it would have been devastating to the family, so one would expect that they would be the recipient of tons of calls, visits, and gifts. According to Kanye West, all he got from Jay-Z was a call to ask him how he was feeling. After telling the world that their kids don’t play together and that they should not expect a Watch the Throne 2, West continued his on-stage rant with ‘Don’t call me after the robbery and say, ‘How you feelin’?’ he yelled out. ‘You wanna know how I’m feeling’? Come by the house.’

Bad Friend or Money Issues

The comments by Kanye West seem personal and with much research one might quickly assume that the current beef is of a personal nature — Jay-z is just one inconsiderate friend. But as the beef unraveled in the entertainment media, it was clear that money was playing a critical role in this Kanye and Jay-Z beef.

Apparently, a version of Drake’s ‘Pop Style,’ which included West, Jay-Z, and Drake was not possible after Jay-Z pulled his collaboration citing a business conflict. The story is that Jay-Z manages rapper Meek Mill who has a long-standing beef with Drake.

So why didn’t West continue with the song without Jay-Z? An exclusive deal between Drake and Apple would be in direct competition with Tidal, which is Jay-Z’s streaming service, but in which West has ownership rights. In the end, West was not able to get his version of ‘Pop Style’ on Apple because of all this musical conflict of interest.

Is There a Resolution in the future?

The entertainment industry and fans alike are not strangers to these two going at it. Is it serious this time? Are there too many hurt feelings and money loss? If we to judge the gravity of this feud based on the personal ranting of Kanye West, this is a serious fight.
