What all my fashionable friends have in common.
I live in Toronto. And if it’s something I’ve learned, it’s that Toronto has a very unique and diverse fashion scene. Toronto attracts a lot of people from all walks of life, and everyone gets a taste of everyone else’s differences- in food, art, music, language, and even fashion.
I’ve been lucky enough to make a lot of friends from my time here, and a lot of them love fashion. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a wide variety of people. From other international students who sport brands that I’ve never heard of, to those who find the coolest stuff when thrift shopping. They’re usually bold with what they wear, and don’t shy away from catching looks from other people.
But if all their personalities had something in common, it would be their confidence. I didn’t understand their courage or their confidence in pulling off some of the things they were wearing. But one day it clicked. They don’t give a shit what other people think. Aha!
When I started thinking about it more and more, I realized that it was becoming true. It didn’t matter what other people thought about my friends because they were too busy enjoying what they were wearing. It’s almost as if they wear more than just their clothing, they wear their appreciation for their own image — and it really shows!
Now whenever I buy clothes for myself, the deciding factor is if I feel good in it because, at the end of the day, that’s what shows.
