3 Easy Steps to Get Started!

Gaining perspective between social media usage for self-branding purposes and among freelance knowledge, it is of no argument that self-branding is a form of ‘digital work’ and is the sole investment of B2B and B2C relationships. So what is Self-branding anyway? It’s personal branding either through digital or personal platforms.

Digital branding has an expected return and just like the definition of branding; relies on reputation. It is paralleled with ‘social capital’ and determines components of successful job searches and value in a product or service particularly within the freelance market segment. Entrepreneurs will find themselves in this segment and developing a rapport with B2B is vital to establishing business development techniques within the social media world. But what is crucial is the business development among B2C relationships. Freelancers and Entrepreneurs equally need followers and a way to connect with them. So, digital branding aids in bridging that gap and can graciously display value in products or services; if done correctly.

Here are 3 Ways to start establishing Digital Branding yourself

  1. LINKEDIN

You want to be sure your Intro matches your next customer’s search query. So if you are a Brand Consultant, make sure your Intro has the content Brand Consultant. If you are a consultant to particularly SMB; be sure SMB is listed within your Intro. Right now (November 2016) they are offering a free Premium level special which you can try. You will be billed after 30 days. It’s a great way to make the connections you wouldn’t be able to as a free member and can truly see the value of a paid membership.

2. INSTAGRAM

With over 300 million Instagram users, Instagram users are shoppers, clients, and entrepreneurs who want to collaborate (hence B2B relationships). Iconosquare’s 2015 Instagram study shows that 70% of IG users report having already looked up a brand on the platform. Plus, 62% of users follow a brand just because they like it! Kissmetics.com recommends setting your profile as a business account and include a link in your bio to boost sales.

I also recommend keeping your posts relevant with charts, graphs and informational graphics which give your potential customers education and empowerment. Not just memes or inspirational quotes.

3. Blogging

Medium.com has an incredibly easy setup format. Adding pictures to your blog is a breeze and you can request to post your blog to Publications which will have up to 500 followers in one area of Medium.com’s website. You are also able to link your Twitter and Facebook accounts to simultaneously post your blog and generate more views and leads.

It is perfectly fine to share information and knowledge you have learned. Never assume your audience is not as smart as you but do honor them in acknowledging they are smart enough to call on you as the expert of your industry.
