We have seen our own local law enforcers do horrible things and have gotten away with it. Many of these events that happen has to due with racism or abuse their power. The most known event was the beating of Rodney King in the 1990’s where someone videotaped the whole incident that happen of the police officers beaten them up. People seek justice and took it to court where the police officers who harassed and beat almost to death Romney King were found not guilty because according to the law they were using self-defense. Apparently self-defense is the excuse so that police officers use lethal force to innocent people. Time has passed during the shooting of Tamir Rice a young boy who got killed for playing with a toy gun in the park. Someone thought that the boy was playing with a real gun but it was a toy gun and later that day the police officers got to the park where the boy was and shot the boy whom died. Apparently the young boy was playing with a toy gun and got killed because he seem very dangerous according to the cops. His sister was arrested because she did not listen to the police officer when they told her to get away from the body. The reason she did not listen was because she saw her little brother body in the floor who was bleeding to death. Judith Buttler talks about how Antigone was arrested for disobeying the king because she was her brother get killed in front of her and also because she was disobeying the polis and was consider an outsider. We can relate this story very much with the incident of Tamir Rice’s sister getting arrested because she disobeyed the police officer because according to them she was trespassing a restricted space. Police officers in this case play the role of Creon just like in Antigone’s Claim. Buttler also implies that women are not political active which mean it is devaluating political power as private property and is not something women usually perform. Tamir Rice’s sister action made it seem like if was invading a private property.

Now Tamir Rice is consider as private property by the police. Do you think is correct for someone to be claim private property? Many may say yes but I say no because a human body should not belong to no one and except the government. In the story Creon thinks that all his soldiers belong to him because he has all the power and thinks that everything belongs to him.
Police officer should not prohibit someone especially a family member from seeing someone who is injured. Antigone and Tamir Rice’s sister have similar characteristics because both of went against the polis and felt what is was natural to do in their situation. It is very rare to see women to contradicts or go against authority decision when you know justice has not been served the proper way. Antigone’s speech put Creon in humiliation because he never thought that a women would be capable of doing something like that. Creon is afraid people would revolt against him to go against the polis and make him look like he is the bad person. Police officers also arrested Tamir Rice’s sister because they felt intimidated by her because she was disobeying them and was putting their power in jeopardy. Female activist never get attention as men because individuals believe that are inferior to men because they are not capable of doing anything when it comes dealing with authorities. In this case Tamir Rice’s sister was an exception and did what she did and I have never seen someone get arrested and especially a girl for standing next to her brother body. Most people are not interested what happens to people of color because superiority people; we kill ourselves in the street with the gang violence surrounding our daily life. Viewers never get the full memo on what really happen because the news always show what they want and always exclude all the details. For example in the event of Travoy Martin shooting, you may remember that the police officer who shot him was found innocent he was doing his job according to the federal laws. In Miami, Police officers now shoot targets with real peoples face and those mug shots happen to be color of people. Maybe that is where the police officer get their expertise of how to arrest people of color. You think police officers racist or the police department? I think is both and government officials should look into this but they dont care about us color of people.
