Not so long ago there was a big commotion on the media about Bruce Jenner’s sex change, and that it did not make no sense for a men to have won that award. This award was completely wrong for a men to receive it because it was meant for a woman not a man to win it. I believe media does a really good job at criticizing people. The media thought it was okay to attack Bruce Jenner at the beginning of his operation by saying things like “Wtf is this?” or just making fun of him. People on social media began to make memes about it in the beginning, and then it just kept going on for a while. Genevieve Vaughan states, “We continue to act out the process at many different levels of society, creating structures which then interact with each other, compete, support each other, arrange themselves in one-many hierarchies.” The quote relates to Bruce Jenner sex change because it was processed at very different levels which lead to criticizing, and created different structures in society that people were eventually following as time passed by. The concept is true that Vaughan argues about having a having that certain hierarchy that develops power and then people start to follow it. The media attention and criticizing is the hierarchy that is constructed by the people and then those people influence other people into interacting with them.

Glamour Magazine

Are men really better at being women than women themselves? You may think it’s funny, but in reality it’s kind of stupid. Here comes the funny part, a few months ago a very famous magazine, called Glamour, decided to name Bruce Jenner as Woman of the Year. This was decided because of everything he had accomplished and the courage it took him for fully transforming himself into a women. Here comes again the concept about creating certain structures and then interacting again because the media began to give him more attention and then people started to the same thing all over social media. People let themselves get controlled by social media because they let themselves believe things of high importance when in reality is not. The example of the CEO that Vaughan mentions is true because the CEO and the media are at the very top of the game. The viewers are like the workers because they get told what to do or what they should listen too. It’s very stupid how society is structure out and we let that control us.

Shouldn’t Woman of the Year be given to an actual woman, and to someone who has done something amazing? Apparently not, Glamour magazine decided to give it to him. Women all over the world have done amazing accomplishments and they never recognize what so ever by the media. For example, two women graduated from ranger school and became the first national Rangers ever.

My instagram

These young ladies achieved a goal which may seem impossible for other women, and even me. I’m a man and I think I wouldn’t be able to do something that grueling. Media sources did not mention a lot these two women or their accomplishments what so ever. Even if they had power, money, and fame; media would find a way to congratulate them but in a way where they also get dehumanize or portray bad. Hilary Clinton is very good example because when she made announced she was running for president media sources recognized her as giving her attention but at the same time found it funny. During her presidential campaign, she was attack by the media because they would dehumanize her by saying she does not look very feminine and that she would cause a war because of her mood swings she would get when she would be on her period. Genevieve Vaughan states that is wrong to gender people and label them. Media attacks and labels Hilary Clinton because of the way she looks and gets gender by saying she is more into the masculine look instead of the feminine look. Media’s message is that women with money, fame, or power should at least look feminine in order to be acknowledged by their goals. Bruce Jenner should of not been named women of the year because he is not a woman and I personally think that the young females that became Rangers should have been named women of the year. Do not let media control you and do not be a follower.
