125 aspiring entrepreneurs came together last summer, 2016 at the MAS Innovation Center, to hear from top entrepreneurs in the fast evolving Lanka startup ecosystem. They pitched ideas of the Lankan youth to professionals disrupting industries and came away with many learnings on how to start a startup. YouthHack had come to Sri Lanka and the first entirely student run technology event for the Youth by the Youth was completed in grand fashion.

Having successfully completed our inaugural event, YouthHack Sri Lanka returns with exciting plans for 2017. We are back and ready to raise the bar. As such expect our continued dedication to add value to the Lankan Youth excited about Technology, Startups and Entrepreneurship.

The Startup Challenge Returns! Its second installment is ready to bring once again top entrepreneurs to mentor, speak and share their experience with the Youth. It’s set to be a unique platform for the Youth to present their ideas and ventures for guidance by industry disrupting professionals. It is also an opportunity to meet the amazing young minds of the emerging startup scene in Colombo. And of course, it is a celebration of the power and dedication of the Sri Lanka Youth setting its sights on technology enabled businesses creating value both in our own country and globally.

This year, YouthHack Sri Lanka is proud to announce the start of two new programs, in addition to our community favorite Startup Challenge. We are excited to launch FreshStart 2017, a weekly immersion into Sri Lanka Startups throughout the summer. Expect weekly speakers, bi weekly tea with Entrepreneurs, additional readings and resource, and even a tour of Colombo’s hottest Startups.

And finally we are excited to launch YouthHack Sri Lanka’s Learn.CS. This is a teaching initiative aimed at trying to solve the lack of a systematic high school introduction to Computer Science in Sri Lanka. Expect to be taken through a rigorous introduction to Computer Science, modeled after the Stanford University’s introduction to Computer Science course, over the course of 10 weeks this summer and walk out with a strong foundation in one of the most-sought after skills in the planet!

A summer of entrepreneurship, startups and technology is back to Colombo. Get excited. Brush up those ideas. Validate your business models. Gather your teams. Polish up your pitches and sign up below for another year of YouthHack Sri Lanka!
