  • * Note: Beware that we are constantly checking the situation around Covid-19 in different countries and especially in France. Dates are subject to change, but we will provide online training until we can meet in a safe environment. This training will take all the precautions following the WHO and the France Government’s health recommendations.

WHY THIS PROJECT?

Everybody is gendered; we all live to a large extent through an identity as ‘man’ or ‘woman’, reflecting on the roles we play socially that involve expectations of masculinity and femininity, and living a sexuality that shapes our relations to others while being judged according to prevailing ideas in our societies. Also, we are all influenced by gender. Equality between women and men is a fundamental right and one of the European Union’s core values. Equality between women and men and other genders is a fundamental right and one of the European Union’s core values. And we want to give the floor to you, so you can express, learn, interact and build a new possible system. Ready to stand up?

AIM

We propose to empower youth people and leaders in the field of addressing gender equality issues such as sexist hate speech and other forms of violence and discrimination against women among young people, by analysing local realities, exchanging practices and developing sustainable activities aimed at promotion of more balanced, equal and inclusive societies in Europe.

WITH AN AIM… COME THE OBJECTIVES

The objectives are:

  • to explore and analyse existing gender equality issues in Europe and build a clear picture on the situation of gender stereotyping and sexism among youth and its consequences for the European societies;
  • to develop at least 5 joined projects in the field of promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women among young people;
  • to increase the competences of youth workers in the field of addressing gender imbalances in society;
  • to co-design with the youth workers new tools to mobilise young people around to work for gender equality and violence prevention
  • to develop the guidelines for youth organisations in the fields of gender mainstreaming and gender sensitive approaches in peace education (or projects)

ARE YOU WILLING TO…?

  • Join a group with an open mind, ready to take action, seeking for constructive learning, and willing to be changemakers;
  • Challenge your way of behaving/living in a process of unlearning for 6 days (this one is VERY important — think about it);
  • Create a community with respect, love and “sharing is caring” mood;
  • Show your best skills to others, offer an ear to hear and questions to ask;
  • Be in the middle of the nature, practicing morning mindfulness or yoga;
  • Find what “outside the box” really means;
  • Believe that youth is part of the change…

THEN YOU ARE PERFECT FOR THIS PROJECT!

BESIDES, IF YOU PREFER TO…

  • stick to your ideas, values or ways of living without reflection;
  • talk for talking without giving the space to express to others,
  • show your power and super-ego towards the others,
  • go all the time party and drinking,
  • not listen to others thoughts or ideas, but rather spend time on the phone…

Then we recommend you to read “Just Kids” (Patti Smith) in your closest library , and then come back to this call:)

HOW WE WORK (we aim to be inclusive)

Training course will be based on the principles of non-formal education: it will have a planned programme of personal and social education for young people designed to improve a range of skills and competencies, outside the formal educational curriculum.

We will implement the basic elements of the non-formal such as:

• participatory and learner-centred
• voluntary
• holistic and process-oriented
• based on experience and action (we will plan the follow-up activities)
• oriented to the needs of the participants.
• individual and group learning with a collective approach
• teaching/learning life skills and preparing for active citizenship

COSTS, WHAT IS THAT?

We believe in one thing, the power of peace education and the right for all to have an opportunity. That is why, thanks to the ERASMUS+ scheme, we are able to provide this training for you for FREE. Accommodation, food, travel costs and materials used in the course are fully covered by the organizers.

However, bear in mind that based on the rules of the European Commission we will only refund the cheapest trip for and back from the training.
