“Culture does not make people. People make culture. If it is true that the full humanity of women is not our culture, then we can and must make it our culture”

Women all over the world are affected by social injustice. In many countries, the rules and the laws were kept to ensure equality between men and women. These rules and laws have not kept things perfect. They helped to maintain the balance between them and equality does not function the same in all the countries. Violence against women, which denies women equal rights with men.

The study of why and how women are treated there, how they have been affected by social injustice. Social injustice is the way of illegal actions in society. Social Injustice is the situation where the equals are treated unequally and the unequal are treated equally, but the fact is both should be treated equally.

Injustice to women, a hundred years back when you learn about women. We hear like they won’t go to work, can’t vote, women did what they were told, lack of mobility, citizenship, freedom of marriage, custody rights, professional obstacles, etc.. There is no equality on those days.

The situation called social inequality occurs when the individual in a society that does not have equal social status.

Causes of Social Inequality:

*Social inequality occurs when society is distributed unevenly

* Engenders specific patterns along lines of socially defined categories of persons.

“When God created man and woman, he was thinking, ‘Who shall I give the power to, to give birth to the next human being?’ And God chose woman. And this is the big evidence that women are powerful”

To women, their equality is everything and they are willing to fight day in and day out to prove that men are not superior to women. “The day may be approaching when the whole world will recognize women as the equal of men.” There have been huge changes for women in terms of employment in the past decades, with women moving into paid employment outside the home in ways that their grandmothers and even their mothers could only dream of. Women are moving into jobs that used to be done by men. Even those women working in factories or sweatshops have more choice and independence than if they remained at home.

“A gender-equal society would be one where the word ‘gender’ does not exist: where everyone can be themselves.”

Since this development started, there have been more women than men joining the co-ops as new members, an increase in the numbers of women initiating new projects, and a remarkable 100% payback rate on loans made to women.

Gender Equality

These changes have led to an increased sense of self-esteem among the women, who now have greater confidence to speak and participate in the affairs of the cooperatives.

“How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!”
