Good day, my precious readers; today I’ll be doing a review of one of the great books I’ve read in the past year… The Rainmaker.

Now, if you don’t know what this fantastic book is all about, no problem.

It focuses on the leading problems of society as well as the infamous saying;

RICH GETTING RICHER AND POOR GETTING POORER

Yes, before I hop into the main deal, the amazing author John Grisham wrote this book.

It sets in Memphis, where young Rudy Baylor, barely out of law school, searches desperately for a job. He secures a spot at a Memphis law firm but unfortunately losses it.

He then stumbles upon his first “two” clients, an elderly landlady who needs her will drawn and Dot and Buddy Black, a couple whose son suffers from leukemia and their insurance company refuses to pay for the medical treatment.

Rudy and his friend, Deck file a lawsuit on behalf of the Blacks, whose son’s treatment could’ve been covered, but their insurance carrier, Great Benefit Life Insurance denies the claim.

Having just passed his bar exam, Rudy now founds himself up against ruthless lawyers from Tinley Britt(a fellow law firm).

Still on the case he stumbles upon, Kelly Ricker, a young beaten wife recovering from wounds inflicted by her husband.

Donny Ray, unfortunately, dies before the case could go to trial. Rudy discovers a scheme planned by Great Benefit to deny every insurance claim.

At the end of the trial, a judgment of $50.2 million was decided to be paid to the Blacks.

Great Benefit quickly declares itself bankrupt, as to avoid paying the judgment. This leads to a couple of lawsuits that force Great Benefit out of business.

During the trial, Kelly is beaten again by her husband, Cliff. Rudy helps her file for divorce.

Whilst retrieving items from Kelly’s home, Cliff arrives and threatens to kill Rudy. A fight begins and Cliff is killed with a baseball bat.

Kelly allows herself to be charged with manslaughter to protect Rudy. Fortunately, Rudy gets the charges dropped, but Cliff’s family isn’t giving up.

Ultimately, Rudy and Kelly fall in love leaving the state and heading to someplace where Rudy who’s now been dissatisfied with the law can become a teacher and Kelly can attend college.

I personally loved this book, the plot, the themes, and everything about it. I would give this book a 10/10, and I recommend it to anyone who hasn’t read it yet.

Here’s a link to the book on Amazon. Check this out!

Thank you for reading, and please stick around for more;)…
