Demo Wrap-up

FoundersDoor is a six week pre-accelerator for early stage tech founders from underrepresented backgrounds in London. The programme is delivered by YSYS in partnership with One Tech as part of the Mayor of London’s Digital Talent initiative.

On 9th June, YSYS hosted its first virtual demo event for FoundersDoor. It is always a challenge to replicate up the buzz and excitement of a live, in-person event — especially following the success of both FoundersDoor 1.0 and 2.0, previously in the idyllic event spaces of Google for Startups and Microsoft Reactor. However, those who attended, would tell you that the Zoom Webinar experience still managed to capture a bit of magic, provided predominantly by the amazing pitches of our cohort.

The demo is a showcase of the awesome work that a group of young adults can achieve in a relatively short period of time with the right structure, guidance and support. More than that though, it is an opportunity for our startups to publicly set the tone for their post-programme goals, whether that’s investment, mentorship or otherwise.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be doing a spotlight feature of each startup to get a more in depth insight into the missions of the teams.
