FoundersDoor is a six week pre-accelerator for early stage tech founders from underrepresented backgrounds in London. The programme is delivered by YSYS in partnership with One Tech as part of the Mayor of London’s Digital Talent initiative.

Final Week

After an incredible six-weeks, FoundersDoor 3.0 draws to a close. Our cohort have worked tirelessly on their startups around their work, studies and other obligations, to learn and implement strategies to validate their ideas and develop prototypes.

As I conducted my exit interviews with teams, hearing the founders reflect on their journeys as individuals and entrepreneurs on the programme gave me great pleasure. With all the lessons learnt during the process, communication is one that has been touched on in various ways, but due to the sheer importance of it, it deserved its own week of focus.

As an entrepreneur, communication is a key skill to acquire and develop. This presents itself in various scenarios

  • On your website
  • Your one-liner introduction
  • During a press interview
  • Marketing content

However, we were joined by Yemi Awopetu, founder of herby, to explore the art of communication for pitches. How many slides do you include in a pitch deck? What should your deck include? How do you craft a narrative? These are important considerations to make when you acknowledge the short amount of time that is often provided to make an impact, whether at a chance encounter with an investor or at a curated demo event.

Virtual Demo Evening

With all of the above said, it gives me great pleasure to invite you all to the virtual demo for our third cohort of FoundersDoor, on Tuesday 9th June at 6pm!

Register here!

Please not that we will email over the Zoom link to attend the demo event the day before.

If you need a reminder of who are amazing cohort are, check out my previous post introducing the founders here.

Looking forward to having you join!
