Meet Chef Parool Shukla of The Good Food Company

Meet chef Parool Shukla, trained at Christina Martin School in South Africa, she has worked as a chef in Nairobi since 2004. She joined TGFC just a little more than a year ago as the operations manager and executive chef: two roles that take an usual aptitude for patience and calm during the daily lunch rush in Nairobi.

TGFC serves a diverse selection of foods from lasagna to chicken tikka masala, Swahili chicken to BBQ chicken & avocado sandwich, and Asian foods like chicken wok with noodles. Despite these culinary delights, Chef Shukla likes to be simple at home. “I usually go for a pasta dish or grilled pork,” notes Shukla. “They are rich in flavor and you do not have to do much to them…they are so easy to prepare,” she says.

Staying inspired and clear-headed, means getting out of the kitchen once in a while. Chef Parool is an avid reader, who enjoys horseback-riding and spending time with her five year old son. “I have traveled too,” says Chef Shukla. “I lived in India for two years and spent some time in South Africa as well, but my dream is to visit Canada.
