There’s always that sense of anxiety when you’re about to try out a new restaurant. You don’t know if the food will be good enough or if you’ll get your money’s worth. You have had a string of disappointments from different experiences. Sometimes the food took too long to prepare. The waitress gave you false hopes and fed you excuses much to your distaste and just as you were about to leave you see them coming along with cutlery so you assume your food is on the way. It’s not, it was just a delay tactic — your drink is almost gone and you’re getting frustrated by the minute.

But not always. Sometimes you walk into a new restaurant and the ambiance takes you in — it’s love at first sight. The setting is cool and you get that feeling that you are in for a ride — much like when you seat into that roller coaster ride. You can feel the food essence drifting your way from the kitchen and you just know you are in the right place. This is The Thai Place for you. A quaint little restaurant in Acacia court which is just off Ngong road. If you’re new to the place it is a green gate right before you get to brew bistro, if you are coming from Prestige. If you are coming from Junction then it is right after Brew Bistro.

The Thai Place is a little restaurant but don’t let that fool you, their meals are big on flavor and their chicken wings pack a punch (that could probably in the world boxing championship). Being right next to our offices, I took a lazy stroll to pay them a visit and I was impressed. Not many restaurants give you that ‘at home’ feel. You almost feel like you’d take your shoes off grab a beer and watch the game.

The food

The prep time was impeccable and the presentation was artistic. You could almost eat the food with your eyes — but we all know that’s never the case. I snapped away a few pictures but my favorite was the spicy cashew chicken basil. It almost felt like it dared you to put the camera down and dive right into it. Maybe it is some sort of culinary temptress, I might have to look into that.

All in all, if you are looking for something new and refreshing The Thai Place should be your first stop. Oh, did we mention they deliver? Yes, they do.Visit their online menu.
