The Origin of Nairobi’s Under the Radar Restaurant

When you first heard of Nairobi’s Under the Radar restaurant, you probably heard a description along the lines of, “you know, it’s the restaurant under the Radar Security company…” It’s not until you visit that this situation seems completely normal.

We went to get the scoop on the origins of this security company which added it’s own restaurant.

“3 years ago, Under the Radar was born,” said Chef Duncan Otieno. “Radar Security owner, Andrew Solomon, realized that his customers needed something refreshing to eat and drink. He decided to start Under the Radar, where Radar Security customers would have tea.”

Today, Under the Radar, is known for much more than tea. In fact, many visitors know the venue for their extensive menu: Italian pasta, mixed grill, salads, sandwiches, and steaks. If this doesn’t sound interesting enough, there’s something else you should know. UTR has one of the most beautiful settings for dinner, including separate gazebos where you can eat in private (great for business dinners), an open air bar, and lush green surroundings.
