WhatImHereFor | o4 Yesika Salgado
This is where I pick one thing I’m here for.
What’s crackin’ in my life? What’s chill? What’s dope? What’s good? All of that and more embodies what I’m here for.
Honestly, life is wack sometimes, and it’s nice to have one little glowing light in this dim ass void that we’re all just tryna slang through. Clawing through this darkness.
So without further ado, this week I am here for:
Yesika Salgado’s book of poetry, Corazón
I recently finished Yesika Salgado’s book of poetry, Corazón and it is simply PHENOMENAL! It’s easily one of my most favorite books and best overall work that I’ve read so far in 2018. It’s dope and honest and inspiring and as sweet as mango slices on a summer sunday afternoon and my god, Yesika Salgado.
Her poems touches on all the things, such as family, love, culture, sisterhood, body image, dancing, the other woman. I highly recommend her poetry! The book was a journey fashooo!
My personal favorite poem in the book was Dulzura, which gave me the feels. Motherhood was awesome and Nopales made me physically yell out “FUUUUCK!” when I finished reading it alone on the black couch in my second floor abode. I even went back to read Nopales to indeed confirm that yes, this is real life.
In conclusion, go out there and support this amazing poet! Don’t forget to check out her website! She’s doing great work and I can’t wait for her new poetry book, Tesoro that’s coming out in November!
And as always, thank you so much for reading my feels! I would love to listen to your thoughts in the comments. Have any dope poetry you’re reading lately? Hit me up with some suggestions! Let’s all just try to vibe on another level shall we?
