September is Here! Save the Outside of Your Home!
It’s getting closer — the moment when you can order a pumpkin spice latte! That means you’ve got a few weeks to complete a few home maintenance chores before it officially turns to PSL weather.
Caulk and Seal:
Caulk around windows and doors to prevent heat from escaping. Check around your foundation for any cracks as well as where any pipes come into the house.
Windows and Doors:
Have storm windows and doors installed and remove any screens. Before you store your screens be sure to apply a protective coating and check for any tears.
Check for Peeling Paint:
Dallas Kidd, the owner of Under Pressure Property Services, recommends checking for bare wood, peeling or blistering paint: “If you see bare wood, it needs to be covered, and it’s time to paint it. Otherwise, the wood will end up rotting.”
Have your roof inspected:
Your roof is the first defense in protecting your home. You’ll want to know if there is anything that needs attention now before the temps start to drop and before any storms come your way.
Clean your Gutters:
Clogged gutters are one of the number one causes of ice dams. Have old or damaged gutters replaced with ones that have leaf-guards. Gutter cleaning is one chore we highly recommend leaving to the pros.
