Three Painting Tips

  1. Prep! The boring part of the job — you’ve got to prep your wall. Be sure you’ve patched any holes, smoothed over any rough spots and cleaned all of the stains.
  2. Prime! Our experts recommend tinting the primer by mixing a small amount of topcoat paint into the primer. Priming walls is always a must if you want long-lasting color. It also saves you money; you won’t have to use as much of your topcoat paint!
  3. Pole! Skip the ladders and all of the climbing while balancing cans of paint and brushes and get yourself an extension pole. You’ll want one that has a soft, nonslip grip and a rigid metal core. Skip the plastic handles; they are hard to control and break easily.
