Migration to map editor Tiled 1.2.0
We have recently revised our way to define Zabuyaki’s stages and found it could be simplified. The recent Tiled 1.2.0 has many nice features such as:
- New Point objects.
- Nested groups of layers with lock options.
- World view. This is not finished but yet usable feature.
Previously we used to struggle on arranging or units over the stage. If you use a small shape it was hard to move it around without changing its dimensions. Rectangles and ovals were carring useless attributes. So, switching to Point objects was natural. We use them to arrange stage objects, players start points and enemy units.
Another cons of old Tiled was uncertain objects selection. In many cases you were dragging the whole map or bigger objects instead of units. Now in Tiled 1.2.0 the current object layer’s ones are standing out. And you may lock the other layers and their content with 2 clicks.
Using nested layers groups we got rid of many repetitive objects options. All of them were moved to the layers group properties. Now units contain only custom ones: palette, drop items and facing.
Any layer can be dimmed with custom colours and opacity.
Currently Stage 1 is being redone from scratch. The current Gopniks City backgrounds were sent to an “old BGs” folder.
