Launching Loyalty Program

One of the most popular features of Restoplus is the Loyalty program. Every client had the ability to run their own Loyalty program and the reason it was popular among customers was because the program was a bit different compared to traditional loyalty programs.

Unlike other loyalty programs in which the loyalty credits were rewarded as points, in Restoplus the loyalty program is designed to provide real cash back to the users when they place an order

This is extremely effective because the customer looks at real cash instead of abstract points. For example, 100 points doesn’t really mean anything compared to $3.00 as a balance on their loyalty card.

In Restoplus this was an extremely popular feature and Loyalty program played a pivotal role in customer retention. To this date, there are consistent loyalty card redemptions happening across all of our clients.

I am extremely happy to announce that the same loyalty program is now available on Zagl App.

How it works for the customer

The loyalty card is available on the more section on the app, as I mentioned earlier every shop could customise their loyalty card by uploading a custom image in their Loyalty program settings to match the a brand.

As shown in the following screenshot, after the customer places an order, a notification will be sent to them about the loyalty credit for the order, when the user taps on the notification, he will be directly taken to the loyalty card page where he can see the new reward.

Every loyalty card has got the customer’s name and their mobile number on it and the user could also see how many orders to go before he could actually redeem the loyalty card.

For every credit the sections of the progress bar is illuminated to give the customer sense of how many orders to go before they can redeem the card

Redeeming loyalty card

Once the loyalty card is full, the progress bar is completely illuminated and the message at the bottom of the screen will state the fact that the loyalty card is full and also have instructions on how the user could actually redeem the card.

Full Loyalty Card

Redeeming a loyalty card is actually as simple as using any other coupon code. When the user is actually placing the order, if the loyalty card is full it will be shown as a suggested coupon, then the user can simply click on apply to redeem the loyalty card. This is shown in the screenshot below.

Note: for the loyalty card to work coupons has to be enabled for the shop, otherwise the user could not redeem the loyalty card. Make sure you have enabled coupons in the checkout settings.

Enabling Loyalty Program

In order to enable the Loyalty program, visit Settings > Loyalty Program, once the program is enabled, there are a few other settings that could be adjusted to customise the Loyalty program to suit your needs.

How it works

The way the Loyalty program works is simple, basically you could choose:

  1. Rewards to be credited after each order
  2. Number of orders to redeem the loyalty card
  3. Custom image for the loyalty card

In the above screenshot you could see a Loyalty program where the user will be credited 10% of order value as credits for each order and he could redeem his card after 7 orders, so basically when he is actually placing the 8th order, he could redeem the loyalty credits towards the order value.

Loyalty program types:

There are basically two types of loyalty programs that we support and they are based on:

  1. Amount
  2. Percentage

Loyalty credits as a fixed amount:

If you choose this option, then every time a customer places a order, then a fixed amount will be credited to is loyalty card.

For example if you set the amount to $1, then every time the customer places an order, irrespective of the grand total he will be credited $1 as loyalty reward.

Loyalty credits as percentage of order value:

If you choose this option, then you could specify what percentage of grand total has to be credited to the loyalty card of the customer for each order, this is most popular form of Loyalty program that we have seen.

Redeemed Loyalty Cards:

This section shows the list of loyalty cards that were redeemed for any given month, you could visit the Loyalty Cards page, and you could choose the desired month and here you could see the list of all loyalty cards that were redeemed for this month, as shown below:

You can also click on View Card link for more details about list of all orders which is contributed to the loyalty card.

You could also click on the new order on this model to see the actual order itself for each of the orders that lead to the corresponding credits.

No credits on discounted orders

Another option that could be helpful is that some shops would not provide loyalty credits for orders for which the customer has already applied a coupon code. Please toggle the checkbox with the similar name to enable it as shown below.

While this looks like a smart move, I do not recommend this option because most of the shops have some form of a first order discount, which means when the customer is first placing an order he is most likely to use a coupon code and he may not get any credits. But loyalty credit is a secret weapon for bringing the customer back and you may not actually get a second chance for retaining the customer, so I strongly recommend to turn off this option, which is the default.

Personal Experience

In fact I am a fan of loyalty card myself, I usually place my orders with a local pizza place Sams Plaza Pizza, who is running their loyalty program, shown below is my actual loyalty card. I have redeemed it several times, this is the current one, a few orders to go before I could redeem it again

Custom Design for Loyalty Card

The loyalty card image is optional, as there is a default background for all cards.
