Online Ordering for School Canteens
This article outlines the steps to setup online ordering for your school canteen on Zagl
Online ordering for school canteens are required for parents to place orders for their children online eliminating the need to queue up in the morning to place orders.
This article is a step-by-step guide to setting up a mobile ordering system for your school canteen on Zagl for free.
Step 1: Visit https://zstore.zagl.io and register using your email.
Step 2: You will receive a confirmation email to verify your email address.
Step 3: Click on the link on your email to verify your email.
Step 1: Once you have verified your email, you can login with your credentials by going to www.zstore.zagl.io
Username: your email id, password: the one you have just created when registering.

Once you have successfully logged-in, you will be in the home screen, where you will find New Shop button just below the top right hand corner. Refer screenshot below.
Enter shop details
Step 1: Click on the New Shop button.
Step 2: Simply upload your logo, choose Cafe for category and fill in other basic details, and click Update Shop button.
Hurrah! Shop Created
It might take a few seconds for the shop to appear on your home screen. Once your shop is created, it will appear on your home screen.
Now that you have created your shop, clicking on icon will take you to the Shop Home page. Almost every aspect of your canteen can be managed from here.
Take a quick look at the navigation bar on the left, this should give you a good overview of the entire setup.
When a shop is created, it will be in unpublished state. When a shop is Unpublished it will not appear in the search results in Zagl App. But don’t worry, publishing is quite easy and you can find more information about publishing your shop here.
We review every shop to ensure that the store listed in Zagl is appropriate and it belongs to its rightful owners. And, also a quick over view to see if most basic details are set up correctly.
You can submit your shop for review once you have completed the steps outlined below.
As you can see above, every shop has a QR code created automatically and when your users scan it, it will take it directly to your shop on Zagl. This is your stores address and hence can be used in your social media and print media promotions. QR Code is the direct route to your store on Zagl. Let your customers connect to your shop in a snap.
Managing your items on Zagl is simple and straight forward. Check out the following posts for more information on adding and managing your items:
Once you have added your items, it’s natural that you have to prepare your menu. Checkout this article for more information on menu setup.
Setting up payments is as simple as connecting your stripe account to your Zagl Shop. Check out this article for more info.
Click on Store Timings on the menu and enter your operating hours. The following screenshot shows that the canteen is open from 8:30AM to 3:00PM from Monday to Friday.
This will be shown to the customer on the App so they can contact you for any queries. This is mostly the contact info that comes up on Google.
When the parent is placing order to the canteen, it’s important to get the student’s name. This can be enabled in the checkout settings as shown below.
- Collection Name: Enable this option such that the parent will be asked to enter their child’s name while placing the order.
- Collection Name Title: This is the title that will be displayed on the screen where the parent enter’s the name
- Collection Name Subtitle: This is any additional help text that has to be presented to the parents in this screen.
These 3 settings will enable the following screen during checkout for a parent:
At schools typically parents order for the day have to reach the kitchen before 9AM in the morning, such that it can be prepared and be ready to go at recess or lunch. In Zagl, this can be customised with the Collection Time settings:
- Collection Time: Enable this option to ask for the requested time from the parent.
- Collection Time Type: Choose this option as custom as shown in the screen above.
⛑ NOTE: Once these two options are set, click on Save Settings which will bring up a new tab Collection Times on top right.
Click on Collection Times tab, and enter the following:
- Page Title: The title shown to the parents.
- Subtitle: Any help info shown to the parents in this screen. In this instance, the canteen wants the parents to place order before 9AM in the morning.
- Collection Schedule: The list of options the parents can choose from. In this example, the parent can order for any day of the week in advance.
Once this settings are in place, this will translate to the following screen during checkout to the parent.
Credit Card Only
Since for schools you don’t want to accept cash, you can turn off cash as a payment option in the settings as shown below. Such that during checkout parents are directly taken to the credit card page.
Finally when the parent is ready to place the order, the checkout screen shown the student’s name & class and the day of week along with the items selected as shown below:

Once everything is setup, parents can download Zagl App from AppStore or Google Play and can place orders as shown below:
