Did you make the best out of the Summer of 16?
Be greedy and try to make the best use of time, now its the part where I know I’m sounding like your father but Sometimes he is right too! :P
When we were scribbling our way out of the monotonous and boring papers of the even semesters, the excitement of the bucket list to be ticked of during the summers was among all of us, is’nt it? Its nearly the end of the summers and the rain knocking its way in, How well have you spent the summers? Internships at top notch firms to all-day CS-go and Dota gameplays ,it has been there all summer.
I have a lot of friends who have a lot of ways to spend there summers, few went for internships in some firms, few went to undergo a training, few cooler ones got the opportunity to code for Gsoc and few of us thought “Freelancing is the only way out! ”.
In my case, I am not satisfied with what i did so far and thats the best way to be I guess..Never get satisfied and always keep asking just one question that would surely drive you : WHAT NEXT? . These two words are quite powerful ones, they motivate and inspire you a lot. Be greedy and try to make the best use of time, now its the part where I know I’m sounding like your father but Sometimes he is right too! :P Keep your eyes open and learn to make a better use of Google.
There are tons of opportunities hovering around in stealth mode, lots of courses and resources available online to improve your skills and the best way according to me is , make your hands dirty and try those cool stuffs on your own! That’s what i have learnt so far.
Go places and be qurious about how things work and surely it would turn you on! So there’s still time left in this summer as none of us is going to join before August , you know very well what I am talking about! Have fun and try new things, especially those who are in 2nd year now, you still got 3 years of exploration left..make sure you work hard and party twice as hard. Guys have a look at websites like Udacity, Coursera(Financial aid available),W3schools and sign on IRCs and mailing list of the organisation you are interested in. Happy working hours!
