Zalando podcast welcomes Tian Su, VP Customers for Profile and Personalization

It’s one of the most exciting challenges for many software engineers: how to use data to give customers the personalized content and products they’ll love.

And in the world of online fashion retail where seasons change fast, there are thousands of new products, and every customer is a different shape, personalization is a high-impact area with masses of potential.

It’s also an area that Tian Su, Zalando’s VP Customers for Profile and Personalization, is passionate about, as she discusses in her conversation with Janine Matos for Zalando’s career podcast, Pieces of Me.

Tian describes how her teams of software engineers search for new ways to personalize — and hyper-personalize — the entire online shopping experience for Zalando’s 49 million active customers across 25 countries.

“On the one hand, fashion is about trend. On the other hand it’s about you and what fits you and your self-expression. You want to belong and you also want to feel like you’re you.”

In her chat with Janine, Tian gives a fascinating insight into her teams’ work, as well the challenge of combining her role with having children, and what’s important to her as a leader.

“You want a diverse team. Each of your people are different, but also complement each other.”

Tune into our Pieces of Me podcast for Tian’s insight into:

  • The link between customer profiles and personalization
  • Mixing leadership roles with family
  • Online fashion retail and diversity
  • Enabling teams to thrive
