We joined BlueStartups Fall 2015 Cohort, here’s why.

At the beginning of this month Zefyr.io joined BlueStartups for their 2015 Fall cohort based out of Honolulu, Hawaii. The program takes on two batches of 10 startups/year and was ranked in the top 20 accelerators in the world by TechCrunch this year. The decision was an easy one for a couple of reasons.

Focus

Working on contract work to float the company was sucking up all of our time. We were operating a business but in essence just treading water. This is an opportunity for us to focus on our own IP.

Isolation

Isolating ourselves from common distractions by physically placing ourselves 6 time zones away in a place we don’t really know means we don’t really have much else to do other than work. We spend weekends exploring the island of Oahu but during the week we are full tilt all day working on our product.

Inspiration

Surrounding yourself with ambitious, motivated, smart people is it’s own form of drug. We walk into the office everyday and learn a lot from the people around us. It’s inspiring us to work harder and smarter.

Perspective

The first week here was like information processing overload on my brain. There is so many new things and people from places all over the world (Hawaii, Singapore, Poland, Sweden, Israel). Being in the same space with new perspectives forces you to shift yours.

So we’ll be in Hawaii working long days, in an effort to build something that people ultimately love and enjoy using every day!
