2018 Z Best Dressed List Maker: Eni Popoola
“I am a recent college graduate currently working as a full time teacher in Harlem. In my spare time I love to read, exercise (spin classes are my favorite!), and create content for my recently started YouTube channel! “ ~ Eni Popoola
A little about the moment that Eni’s first realized her passion for fashion:
From kindergarten through 12th grade I attended schools that required uniform. Starting at college was what really made me aware of how much I love fashion. I started taking pictures of outfits every Sunday after church and that was what sealed the deal for my love of fashion and inspired the start of my blog and hashtag #EniGivenSunday!
That’s definitely a hard one as it depends on the mood or occasion. For work clothes I’ll go to H&M. For party wear Oh Polly is a favorite of mine.
The place of fashion in Eni’s life:
Fashion can affect or reflect my mood and my energy level at a particular time. It shifts, of course, based on the setting I’m in but I’m always confident in whatever I’m wearing.
In cooler months, my signature piece would be a black turtleneck. It’s simple and elegant all while subtly accentuating curves without revealing too much. It can work for essentially any occasion and can be worn in so many different ways!
We asked Eni, “ if you could trade your entire closet with any woman in the world, who would it be?”
I’d have to say my mom! Although I think I already come close since I raid her wardrobe all the time
“And would you actually do it?”
And, speaking of grabbing someone’s style from their closet, many of the Trench members (aka Trenchies) state that one of the things they like most about being part of the Never Ending Closet community is being fashionable while being very environmentally conscious and sustainable.
Eni told us about the meaning of fashion sustainability to her.
Sustainability means finding many ways to make use of items in your wardrobe. When I feel like I no longer need an item I try my best to donate pieces to others in need or to brands that will reuse the materials to create new pieces.
And to wrap up, a fun fact about Eni:
I spent 6 years in middle and high school learning Latin. I guess it’s too bad that it’s an unspoken language!
