When every relationship ends, the hardest thing to do is to forget that certain someone. It’s even harder when all the emotions come boiling under the surface and pops back up to taunt us. Sure, things are easier said than done but if you don’t start now, you’ll be accumulating a whole lot of negative feelings and thoughts along the way which can make you fall even further. So let’s take a deep breath and follow these key steps.

  1. Find your calm

If you have a religious belief, it’s best you find comfort in that sanctuary. If not, find ways to zone yourself out of the negative emotions. Try meditating, calm yourself with yoga. Distract yourself with an activity that gets your adrenalin pumping and raises your endorphin levels. Put your thoughts down on paper. Writing it all out makes it more tangible and once you’re done, toss it away!

2. Remember your family & friends

Even if you are troubled and no matter what you’re feeling, you still need your family and friends by your side. Just because you’re in a negative state brought up by a previous bad relationship, you don’t have to push your real loved ones aside. Absorb positivity and reflect the negativity. This way, you’ll find those resurfaced emotions fade away in no time.

3. Motivate yourself

Don’t pity yourself. Do not invest in self-blame. You can’t stay sad forever. The world keeps moving on and so should you. You’re probably missing out on all the good people out there while you’re moping around at home in sadness. You need to wake yourself up. Not all relationships that end have to mean something bad. You just have to accept the fact that things don’t work out the way you hope or expect and it’s completely okay! So go out and live a little. Achieve a dream or two along the way.

These essential steps may take a while for you to carry but don’t think it, instead just go ahead and do it. What’s your own way of dealing with past relationship emotions? Share with us in a comment below.
