Why Do We Live?
Have you ever wondered about your why’s and how’s? Thought about if life is all about fear, cruelty, repression, loss, distress, failures, pain and tears so why should we live? First of all let’s have a look at some quotes to help figure things out a little bit.
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, and to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson
“The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.” –Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
Both quotes are closely related for some points. Now we’ll decipher and give it more thought.
- To be an insanely useful human
They are the go-to people whenever someone needs help. But what makes someone really insanely useful is their attitude. It is not necessarily if they are prettier, better connected, more competent or smarter. It’s how they can empathise and are trustful. However being useful doesn’t mean allowing yourself to be used though so be wary of those who take advantage.
2. You are created with just enough to live life
You are born with enough. Be thankful for what you have. Limbs to work and gain, abilities to foster and create. Live well and don’t just live for yourself but live for others as well. Find a way to contribute and with that you will live a full life. Some may have it all but will never feel enough because they miss out on giving back.
3. To be worthy
Worthy of what exactly? This isn’t a place where you can find an answer. You have to seek to discover. What is your worth in life? It can be as simple as caring for your child. That is your worth as a parent. Perhaps your life revolves around working. That is your worth as an employee. Think of it as do you feel that it is enough to live for? Find your drive in life and perhaps you will find your true worth in life.
Do you have life all figured out yet? Perhaps you’re on your way to figuring it out. Let’s think about it together and you can leave your own piece of mind in a comment.
