Today, Mozilla is sharing an early preview of an experiment we are calling “Hubs by Mozilla”. Hubs is an immersive social experience that is delivered through the browser. You simply click on a web link to begin interacting with others inside virtual reality. — Mozilla Blog

Why is it different or important? Simple this is the first VR experince where you don’t need the 1200$ Machine or the expensive VR headset or the super awesome graphics card. All you need is an okay computer with a good wifi connection.

So this opens the realm of possibilities to… Anyone.

Anyone can join a 3d world, share screens and video and audio it’s like skype in 3D and you can have many people in one world you can input your own 3D objects and do many wonderful things in this VR and Desktop friendly environment.

Here’s some screenshots:

We all know VRChat and even that does not require you to have the HTC Vive or Oculus but still it’s difficult to run it on a lower-end machine.

Now the graphics give off a little Roblox vibe however it’s an amazing technology. And the best part is it’s open-source.

What’s Open-source? Well open-source is when the person who created the software or web app releases some or all of the files for that tool for others to rebuild and share with others in the same community.

One of the easy ways to contribute to Open-source projects by checking out the Github: https://github.com/mozilla/hubs .

So anyone can build a map, Maps are the space where you are working with people and run it on your local server then share it with the Mozilla Repository for this project.
