We’re thrilled to announce that Zego has launched Rocket insurance, designed to cover everyone from part-time astronauts to full-time cosmic explorers.

With policies available on a pay-as-you-go basis, or for the full duration of a light-year, Zego’s usage-based cover is designed to offer astronauts insurance that matches the flexibility they get from their work.

Pay-as-you-go Rocket insurance has been designed specifically for part-time astronauts and individuals undertaking high-risk missions.

For expeditions which last a little longer, our popular 30-day option is available — perfect for research academics who pursue full-time space travel during sabbatical leave, or astronauts who want to pause their payments during the holidays.

Focus groups with seasoned cadets showed that those on long-term ISS expeditions, or with plans to venture into deep space, had concerns that pay-as-you-go costs could add up to considerable expense over lengthy missions. That’s why we added the third option: a full light-year.

The true flexibility of Zego’s Rocket insurance comes from the ability to make changes to your policy without incurring any fees. Need to add a spouse pilot? Change your registration details? No problem — you’re covered to update your details at no extra charge.

We’ll even pick up our satellite phone and give you a call if we suspect that you could save money with a different payment plan.

The all-new rocket policy is supported by a pan-galactic deal with an interstellar insurer, yet to be named in public. This marks an exciting step for our expansion, building on the pan-European deal struck with La Parisienne Assurances this February.

Pundits have pounded the business media with assertions that the gig economy is set to really take off in 2019 — but we’ve taken this quite literally. Former Deliveroo directors and Zego founders, Sten Saar and Harry Franks, knew that the only thing preventing business booming in space was a lack of suitable insurance options.

Unfazed by the Gulf News’ recent tongue-in-cheek comments on the implausibility of alien abduction insurance, we knew that if anyone had the power to pave the way for mass adoption of space travel and commerce, it was Zego.

“We’re delighted to launch our rocket insurance” said 30-year-old Saar, chief executive of Zego. “It’s one small step towards realising our ambition to take over the galaxy, but one giant leap towards empowering the new mobility industry with fit-for-purpose insurance solutions.”
