Demelza Hays is a woman of many hats, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Liechtenstein, Member of the BoD at Blockchain Büro, and Junior Fund Manager at Incrementum AG. Just to make sure she doesn’t get bored, she is also the author of the “Crypto Research Report,” taking lessons in coding, and participating in the Swiss Blockchain Hackathon #SBHACK19 together with the “Ländle Crypto Team.” I had the exclusive chance to pull the team and Demelza away from the intense hacking to give us some insight on how it feels to be part of the biggest Swiss blockchain hackathon ever. Let’s jump right into it!

Yannick Zehnder: Hi Ländle Crypto Team, thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions, I know that every minute is valuable at a hackathon. Can you give us a short intro on yourself and share with us why you decided to be part of #SBHACK19?

Demelza Hays and the Ländle Crypto Team hacking late night

Ländle Crypto Team: Let us introduce you to our team. We have Robin, he is a student at the University Liechtenstein. He actually had the idea of participating here. After asking his friend, Claudio Gall, they decided to apply for the hackathon. Claudio is a student at the UniLi too and was visiting Blockchain lectures at Demelza Hays class. We thought that she would be a super enrichment to our group because of her knowledge in this field. Yuri is a friend of Demelza and comes from the traditional banking part and has been working there for years. The last entry to the group was Reto Trinkler. He is a very advanced software programmer in the field of blockchain and well known.

YZ: Tell us a little bit about your project: Why did you choose the vertical and challenge you are competing in and what are you developing?

LCT: Demelza had the idea in mind for already quite a bit. In short, we are developing a “Central Bank as a Service.” On a high-level, the digital ecosystem we created combines the learnings from current projects such as MakerDAO, Libra, and other stablecoins.

YZ: Demelza, you are a nerd at heart and took the 21 Lectures AG advanced course on coding on Bitcoin. How did that help you prepare for #SBHACK19?

Demelza Hays: At that occasion, I got a more in-depth insight in terms of software for Bitcoin. But we have probably much more advanced coders in our team like Reto Trickler. He took the lead in programming the software and coordinated the software development with the students in our group.

YZ: Did you attend any of the training sessions? If so, which one was your favorite?

Ländle Crypto Team: No one of us had time to attend a training session even if it would have been pretty interesting, especially if Amazon is showing up.

YZ: What has been the best experience about #SBHACK19 so far, and what are you looking forward to the most?

Demelza Hays: The team was amazing to work with. All of them gave their best in making our idea brilliant. To have such a motivating atmosphere really pushed us forward. Right now, we are looking forward to getting first place in this race and try to get in touch with investors.

I wish you and all the other teams lots of stamina, great success, and of course the best of luck! Thank you for putting all that energy into the Swiss blockchain ecosystem.
