Meditation on Peace in the World

Peace shatters into a million pieces

Only love, faith, and hope can bring peace

When glass shatters into so many pieces,
Each fragment is sharp and can cut you.
Each tiny piece is a weapon so cruel,
Ready to draw blood like in a duel.
A million shards of peace lie on the sand,
Every person who has suffered a loss,
Is like a tree that will not stand.
Every person who loses someone,
Is like a reed bending in a storm.
Every wound that bleeds in red,
It is like a sharp knock on the head.
Every weapon that is broken,
Is hatred and anger that is forsaken.
Bring peace back into this world of ours,
Let innocence bloom like bright flowers.
When a war begins peace is shattered,
The roads are red and blood splattered.
Peace shatters into a million pieces,
When homes and families of hundreds fall,
There can only be one last call.
Give the call for peace in the world,
Too many have suffered this battle and strife,
It is now time to return to normal life.

Author’s note: This is my 1500th literary piece on Medium since January 2021.
