Rooftop Summer Nights

PHoto bu Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

After surviving a heat-drenched day of sleeping in my air-conditioned cocoon
I stepped outside on my rooftop, and the atmosphere was so thick with humidity
I could feel the texture of the air
In my stillness
My senses were so heightened
My rested mind
So enlightened
For a moment, it felt like the world
Didn’t move so fast
It wasn’t slow, but maybe a medium motion
Airplanes look like
Illuminated fish
In a star-filled
Ocean
