THE HALF LIFE OF LOVE IS FOREVER
They say
The half life of love is forever
And like radioactive decay
It fades
Slowly
Painfully
Into a hollow ache.
Yet lingers
As scars made of ash
And haze.
In the beginning
Love is fresh and new
A flame that dances
With unyielding brightness.
But as time's passage leaves its bitter dew
It fades, loses its warmth
Its fierce lightness.
And in the aftermath
A love half lived
Atender ache
A wound that never heals.
But in the darkness
Resilience survived
A quiet strength
That's found within the reels.
For even as love crumbles
And turns to dust
within ourselves
We find our own self-trust.
