The Year Santa Stopped Believing In Santa
Here’s another Christmas classic for the pile
Santa Claus couldn’t sleep. Usually, our jolly old saint slept like a jolly old well-adjusted baby, but not tonight.
So, you might guess it was Christmas Eve or Christmas After, which is called “Boxing Day” by know-it-alls. Santa always had trouble sleeping on these nights because of caffeine and workaholism for the Eve and overthinking for the After. For example:
- Did I forget anyone on the list?
- Did any naughty people see me?
- Did I leave ash prints on any carpet?
- Did I at least pretend to enjoy all the cookies left out for me, though all cookies, when compared to those crafted by my darling Mrs. Claus, my Gertrude, taste like ash on the carpet of my tongue?
But this sleepless night we’re talking about wasn’t the Eve or the After. Twas just an ordinary night.
Ordinary, if you call the first hours of December ordinary, which Santa did not.
