Have you ever noticed how some content have some words with special decoration, clicking on which you see another page of some other website? The “specially-decorated text” is a link and is a great tool for websites to promote themselves. Let’s dive into the world of Link Building and know how to do so.

Link Building: The Beginning

Welcome.

Let’s get you introduced to link building. If you need an appropriate definition, here it goes:
“Link Building is the process by which we can have other websites linking to our website.”

The website which is promoting the link of some other content is the referrer and the link which is being promoted (the link of your website if you want to be promoted) is the link of the referent, often called an inbound link or a backlink.

Here’s an example of the application of link building and you will realize some of the advantages of link building:

Let’s say you are searching for “The best digital marketing solutions for my business”. You may find a page in the search results with the list of companies providing digital marketing solutions to your business problems. Let’s say one of those companies is Zenithec Techware, and you hover over the text to find that it is actually a link pointing to the home page of the website. You read some of the blogs, surf through the website to find some useful blogs and you learn about the services they offer.

Now, you decide to contact them to know more about the services they offer. You fill out the contact form and talk to them and you would now like to make a purchase with them.

Thus, the basic working of link building can be described by the following: When you click on a link on one website and it opens another website associated with that link so that you can gain more relevant information and take required actions. The traffic to a website through this method is called “referral traffic” (since the website is being “referred”).

How do Search Engines use Link Building?

Let’s say there’s a top ranking content, and they have included the link to another website which has more detailed information in their content. Search Engines crawl through the content (Click here for more information about “crawling”) of the top ranking website and in the process, it also crawls through the referent too since the Search Engines keep looking throughout the internet in search of content.

They can extract the content through the links and add them to their indexes. The number of high-quality links is also an important factor to be considered during the ranking of pages. In fact, the popularity of Google is a result of high-quality linking. So, referral traffic may get you better ranking for your own webpage too if you have quality content.

However, the algorithms developed by Search Engines like Google have been developed to check and exclude links for poor quality content. This article will not cover the technical details of the process.

Key Benefits:

Ø Increase the outreach of your business by building your contact with the experts.

Ø A high-quality link can increase traffic to your website.

Ø It can establish your authority in your niche and show your expertise.

Finally, it is not the number of links that get you the traffic. Any effective link building campaign begins with good quality content. Contact us for queries and get started with the exciting journey of link building!
