ZBC#85 [Why, How,What] ~ Inspired/インスパイアド

Today, let me introduce Inspired from Zenport Book Club#85 on Jan13th 2018.

Marty Cagon, the author of the book, said that Product manger is different from Project manager.

Then, what are the different points? and what are the attributes and skills product manager should have?

Let’s get started.

Summary

  • The duty of product manager are the following two points. One is to evaluate the user’s crucial problem and the other is to design minimum and enough valuable product. The product should not be perfect. Product manager need to make minimum product as soon as possible, then release it.
  • Product manager should have the following seven attributes, passion for the product, understanding of customer’s behavior, intelligence, sense of morality, honesty, self-confidence and ownership.
  • Product manager need to have the following five skills, the knowledge of engineering, to select and create priorities. , to manage time properly, communication skill and business skill like finance/marketing/sales.

Discussion

  • In order to know what Product manger nee to do, shusa-method, made by Toyota, should give us a lot of study. At Toyota, shusa has all of responsibility for new car, from designing to sales. It decreases the bureaucracy, and prevent them making product that does not focus of user.

Conclusion

Today, I’ve introduced inspired, which describes about product management. Next, let me introduce Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioural Economics(行動経済学の逆襲) from ZBC#86.
