Libhub Initiative Launches Sponsorship Program, Welcomes Atlas Systems, Innovative, and SirsiDynix

Atlas Systems, Innovative, and SirsiDynix Join Zepheira in Supporting Library Visibility on the Web — 19 March 2015 — The Libhub Initiative, the effort founded by Zepheira to encourage the use of Linked Data to expand Library Visibility on the Web, announces a sponsorship program which now includes Atlas Systems, Innovative, and SirsiDynix. Through their sponsorship, each of these industry leaders is acknowledging the critical importance of Visibility for libraries and shows interest in the use of technologies that support libraries wherever their customers may be.

“Zepheira founded the Libhub Initiative because we believe that Visibility on the Web is the key to Library vitality,” explained Eric Miller, President of Zepheira. “We are delighted to have the support of Atlas, Innovative, and SirsiDynix in exploring and uncovering the ways that all of us in the library ecosystem can better use the Web and its technologies, and meet the needs of their communities. And the more vendor sponsors and institutional partners who join in, the more informed and vibrant the Libhub Initiative will be.”

Statements of support from leaders of this first group of Sponsors can be found below.

Sponsors and Partners play key roles in supporting activities within the Libhub Initiative, offering financial support, leadership, active listening and engagement with the broader library and Web communities. The Libhub Initiative welcomes more engagements with both Sponsors and Partners.

Atlas Systems

“It’s time to reveal to the Web what we at Atlas Systems and our customers have known all along; libraries are rich, living knowledge environments. We have worked for years with libraries to make management of their resources easier and more streamlined and they have given us good insights into what they need. Libraries want to meet their communities at the place most of them visit each day — the Web. Atlas believes that the Libhub Initiative is an important first step toward allowing libraries to weave their resources and services into mainstream search results in order to provide Web users the highest level of access.”
“Increasingly we see our role as one of fulfillment. As libraries become more visible on the Web a cycle of awareness, interest, request, and fulfillment is created. With ILLiad for resource sharing, Ares for electronic reserves, and Aeon for special collections management Atlas completes the cycle for the Visible Library.”
- Jason Glover, President, Atlas Systems

Innovative has been dedicated to providing an outstanding experience for library users since the very start of library automation systems. The breadth of Libhub Initiative partners demonstrate the importance of linked data to the entire library community, and Innovative is proud to support and help lead the development of its enabling technologies.
- Gene Shimshock, VP of Global Marketing

Designing and delivering products that enhance the relevance and centrality of libraries is the unifying theme of everything we do at SirsiDynix,” Of all of the advances we’ve made toward this objective, the LibHub Initiative and the concepts it promotes, may well hold the most promise of them all; not only for SirsiDynix customers but for all libraries everywhere. In our continual effort to deliver the Best Library User Experience, we are honored to support and advance the LibHub Initiative so that the library industry can realize the incredible benefits of linked data as soon as possible.
- Bill Davison, CEO, SirsiDynix
