News
Happy New Year! I am very excited about the possibilities of 2017. Last year was filled with major successes and for 2017, that will be no different. So, make sure you stay connected through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube so that you are up to date on all events and shows. For 2017, I want to make a point to connect with more of you! After all, none of this would be possible without your support.
Birthday
This is a special birthday commemoration for me. January 10th marks what would have been Fayette Pinkney‘s, affectionally known as Aunt Faye, 69th birthday. Beyond being a pioneer in the Philadelphia music scene, Aunt Faye was a beautiful person who is missed very much. Learn more about this amazing woman and artist here. Happy Birthday Aunt Faye. You are missed dearly.
Just My Thoughts
We made it. 2016 had a lot of ups and many, many downs but here we are in 2017. While 2016 was a challenge for us in many ways, I remain hopeful that 2017 will be a year where we all step up and overcome the hatred and bigotry of our next President. For me, I am hopeful that 2017 will be another great year of connecting with more people and more opportunities to show my artwork.
2017 will be challenging but let’s move forward with a determined mind to make the best of it. Let’s not allow hate to ruin the progress made over the last 8 years. Let’s resolve to defend and protect our marginalized sisters and brothers. Let us continue to fight for justice even in the face of nationalist and supremacist opposition.
Finally, let 2017 be the year where we all challenge and stand up to dangerous rhetoric and attempts to divide us based only on who we love, how we worship or how we choose to identify. Let 2017 be the year that we show this nation and the world that we are better than that.
