Today, we’re excited to introduce you to the new and improved Zero app. Now you might be thinking to yourself, “Why mess with a good thing?” Glad you asked — we’ve collected feedback from some of our 1.3 million users that let us know these changes will make your Zero experience even better…and we didn’t stop there. We also built a beta testing group thousands strong to ensure the new Zero would be everything you want. Lots of these fearless testers gave us tons of feedback along the way, and have let us know that they’re big fans of the improvements, and we think you will be too.

You Asked, We Updated

Change can be scary, but luckily all of the updates we’ve made were informed by you — our existing users. You asked for multi-day fast tracking. You’ve got it. You asked for more variety of fasting types. Done. You asked for improved statistics. Added them. We delivered on all of these things and more, while maintaining the simplicity and clean design that you’ve always been a fan of.

When you update to 3.0, you’ll also notice that you now have a user account. This means that all of your fasting data will be automatically sync’d to the cloud in case you accidentally delete the app or log in on a new device. You work hard to track your fasts, and now we do too. With additional insights and guidance, we hope that we can become a partner on your fasting journey; not just a tool that you use along the way. Since this is our first major app update in over a year, let’s take a moment to walk through everything.

What’s New?

The Timer: The new timer screen puts all the relevant fast data in one spot. You can edit your start time from this screen or end your fast early. And you can now check out how many others around the world are currently fasting with you — we’re all in this together.
New Fasting Types: We’ve introduced even more preset fasting options…while keeping all of the original options. You can now select from Circadian Rhythm (consuming food only before sunset and after sunrise), 16:8, 18:6, 20:4 (often referred to as OMAD or one meal a day), or a 36 hour fast. You also have the ability to create a custom fast lasting up to five days.
History: Keep track of your stats over time in the ‘History’ tab. You can monitor things like the total number of fasts you’ve completed or your longest fasting streak. You can also integrate your Apple Health data to track your weight over time. Your ‘Journey’ will show the types of fasts you’ve completed over time and the notes you’ve left.
Time and Post-Fast Logging: You’ll now have the ability to edit the start and end times of your fast, record how you feel, and add notes after each fast. This will allow you to have a more holistic picture of your fasting journey — not limited only to dates and hours fasted, but also inclusive of how you feel over time.
Learn: Our ‘Science’ tab got a makeover — you can now find all the same great articles, studies, podcasts, and videos under a tab in bottom right, labelled ‘Learn.’ Keep fueling your fasts with the latest information from thought-leaders and experts.

We’re proud of the community you’ve built around Zero, and we hope these changes will help us better support you. We wouldn’t be here without your feedback, so we can’t wait to see what you have to say about the latest version!

*As of March 27th, Zero is available on iOS and Android. To use Zero on Android, you must have Android 5.0 or above installed.
