2K Champion Dimez gives Playmaker Tips
2KTv chatted w/ 2K Champion Dimez on how his team won the 2K All-Star Tournament, being a go-to scorer, and more. Check the info below.
On what Dimez does differently: “I excel at passing. I’ve got a different mindset. If I’m one-on-one, I can score just like any of them. Once I draw the double-team, that’s when I kick in that Rondo aspect to feed my team & get them involved.”
On why he built a Playmaker: “Dribbling. Definitely dribbling and speed. I momentum dribble a lot and rhythm dribble. My rythym dribble gets me to where I need to go pretty fast & smooth, momentum dribble gets them off their toes with anklebreaker.”
On Still Trill’s Offense: “Our set offense is the pick & roll or pick & pop. That’s basically to get me going. Our whole offense is built so I can take it and keep scoring as much as possible. When I’m really hot or if we’re having a little trouble, we go 5 out, then it’s basically the same thing — if I’ve got it, take it, but if they start doubling, I find my team.”
Advice for up-and-coming point guards: “Be a leader for your team. Don’t be selfish. You can’t worry about getting dropped off or anything like that.”
Another interesting point: Dimez mentioned that he knew Throwndown didn’t have a Lockdown Defender in the 2K Championship game, which increased his confidence on attacking the rim.
