The Dream Team was the 1992 Olympic Basketball team. They acquired this name because it was the first year that the Olympics allowed for NBA players to compete at the Olympic level and they dominated. Previous to 1992, only college basketball players were allowed to compete. The team consisted of Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Clyde Dexter, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson, Micheal Jordan, Christian Laettner, (the one college player voted onto the team) Karl Malone, Chris Mullen, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, and John Stockton.

This team was so dominant that they averaged a win margin of 43.8 points. In fact, after their opponents got finished being owned on the court, they would ask the team for pictures and autographs. The team went 8–0 and secured a gold medal in doing so. In those 8 games the team’s head coach, Chuck Daly, never once called a time out because there would have been no point. The team’s showoff in skills, athleticism, and pure dominance is what sparked the rest of the world to fall in love with basketball which was already sewn into American culture.
