Upcoming Startup Events in Brisbane — July 4, 2017

Hope you’re surviving winter, Brisbane. This Medium post is something a bit experimental — for now it’s pretty much cross posted word-for-word from Startup Digest Brisbane, which I run alongside the fantabulous Rosie Odsey.

The aim of zeroauthority is to make the Digests a bit more shareable and more easily viewable. Eventually we’ll add event debriefs, content recommendations and other ramblings. Be sure to subscribe.

Any problems with this thing? Anything you’d like to see us do differently? Maybe we’ve missed an awesome event? Comment below this post or DM either one of us over on Twitter.

How to Successfully Launch a Product — Expert Panel

July 5th 6:00pm at Fire Station 101, Ipswich
You have the vision and the product. How do you turn that brilliant vision into a successful reality? Launching something new starts way before the buzz, without the proper launch strategy and ideal timing even the best idea can fall flat. Three fast-moving Startups from the Advance Queensland Hot DesQ program are descending upon Ipswich to share their experiences and tips on best practice for engaging customers and driving the success of a product launch.

CTO School Brisbane #7: The Lean Startup CTO

July 5th 6:00pm at ThoughtWorks, CBD
Startups are different: you have no time, no money, no resources, and little to no idea what you are supposed to be building. A well executed project only part of the solution, and being agile, Agile, or AGILE! will not save you. Given this, how do you have a chance of succeeding? In this presentation River City Labs’ Mentor in Residence Peter Laurie will take you through a distilled version of what he teaches every CTO he comes into contact with in the local startup ecosystem.

Brisbane Freelance Jungle June Coffee Meetup

July 6th 9:00am at The West End Coffee House, West End
Meet Emily, the Brisbane events coordinator for the Freelance Jungle for a good coffee. The Freelance Jungle is a social club where freelancers, contractors, soloists, startupfounders and single person small businesses can come and meet like minded people. We’re big on ending the isolation and sharing advice and low on the salesperson vibe so you can enjoy yourself. Relax, workshop your issues, ask questions, share the wins, highs and lows with a community that cares.

Building your social proof

July 6th 5:30pm at The Precinct, Fortitude Valley
Presented by Wayne Schmidt, you’ll learn how to setup a Google My Business and setup a process for gaining reviews, and then grow your ranking without spending money on Google Adwords. Then we’ll look at building a LinkedIn profile, which builds on the social proof about you. Using LinkedIn, you can build both your company brand and also your personal brand. A strong LinkedIn profile can help prospective clients decide whether you are the right person with the right skills to work with.

Brisbane.AI — CSIRO: Evolutionary Computing

July 6th 6:00pm at Fishburners, CBD
Someday, could we create independent, autonomous, robotic species? Come along and find out! Dr David Howard will provide a crash course in the fundamental concepts, show some highlights from the field, and give concrete examples of evolved robots from his work at CSIRO.

Startup Sales: Get through to Senior Management

July 7th 12:00pm at The Precinct, Fortitude Valley
