“And in the streets you run a-free
Like it’s only you and me
Geez, you’re something to see.

Oh, home, let me come home
Home is wherever I’m with you
Oh, home, let me come home
Home is wherever I’m with you”. -Home
Song by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Home; a word to refer to emotions, feelings and more than that, a family living together under one roof.

Home is an essential aspect of our lives. It gives us a sense of belonging, comfort and security. It is where we create memories with our loved ones and where we spend an important part of our lives.

Home is a comfort zone; where you frequently go to unwind and de-stress after a long day.

“House” not only represents an address, but also a group of people living in that home. The word “house” is not used for a building or a house, but for a family living there. In short, a building can only become when it emits warmth.

“Home” comes from the Proto-Germanic khaim, which differed from the meaning of “house” in those times as it does today. The khaim, or ham, as it traveled into Old English, meant a residence as opposed to simply a shelter.

The concept of “home” is the subject of research and theory across many fields — topics ranging from ideas of home, interiors, psychology, liminal space, contested space, gender and politics.
The concept of home goes beyond residence as lifestyle and modern lifestyle.
Technological advances are redefining the way people around the world live and work. Concepts of a home includes experiences such as exile, longing, belonging, homesickness and homelessness.

A home is never about a building, luxury, wealth and poverty .Home is always about the sense of security, relief where one can feel at ease, one can feel warmness and feel a gentle push to start a day with happy smile and sleep a little better.

Everyone has their own definition of a home. Some say, “Home is where you live: your house, apartment” whereas some of them feel different and define home as, “A place where someone still thinks about you is a place you can call home.” Although each person has different take on their thoughts about a home but they all conclude with one word “Feeling”.

No matter where or how we live, feeling ‘at home’ always boils down to the same seven ingredients: a generous slug of security and comfort, big handfuls of belonging and ownership, lashings of enjoyment and accomplishment, and a healthy dollop of privacy.

Home is where the heart finds its peace, shared laughter echoes, memories roam. Home is a haven where hearts weather life’s storm, in walls of warmth where love takes its form.

The essence of home resonates universally. It transcends borders, cultures and languages. Whether it’s a humble cottage, a lively apartment or a quiet country retreat, its true essence lies in the love, warmth and understanding that pervades its core.

Home is dynamic. It is not static, evolving over time and absorbing our experiences. It is a sanctuary where we take refuge in the rough waters of life, a harbor that sustains our ships on stormy seas. It is a refuge from the chaos of the world, where the soul finds peace and the spirit is reborn.

Home, in its truest essence, represents the combination of emotions, experiences, and connections that define the human experience. It is the place where the heart finds belonging, a place not just on the map but etched into the very fabric of our existence. In the symphony of life, home is like a melodious chorus that brings comfort, love and is an anchor amid the ever-changing storms of life. Home is a place we long for, the place where our stories are written, and where no matter where we go, a part of us always longs to return.
