Zerone 2021 Online Article Competition Guidelines
Continuing with our proud tradition here at the Zerone Magazine, the Zerone Team 2021 is proud to announce the annual Online Article Writing Competition with a total prize pool of Rs.20,000!
The prizes for the competition include,
- Rs. 6000 for the best overall literary work in each category decided by the Zerone Team 2021.
- Rs. 2000 for the most popular literary work which will be decided by public voting on social media.
The competition will start from the 23rd of January (9th of Magh) and will continue till the 6th of February (23rd of Magh). The entire competition will take place online, in the medium publication of Zerone magazine.
Categories:
1. Circle of Life
Life is all about completing circles — accumulation of experiences and events that tie up to a thread going around a pole with time waiting for us to return to the zenith. However, just like a planet orbiting a star while several other moons go around the former, many tiny ripples get triggered while we are going around the larger circle. For this segment, we expect you to write about any of such circles. Anything that relates to life is welcome: be it a form of your journal, an expression of your ideology, or (someone’s) story. After all, wouldn’t completing this part of the circle mean you have another circle to write about?

We’ve all been there. Whether it is installing an app or signing up for a new service, we either lazily skim through the privacy policy or, let’s face it, don’t even bother reading it before blindly clicking “I agree.” Never mind that we are serving our sensitive personal information to anyone who asks. Because eh, who wants to sit through that long user agreement, right? But what if buried in that agreement were snooping clauses like one that permits your employer to monitor your internet browsing history and another that grants drones access to spy on your house? If you can provide some solace to the quiet cries of the data by conveying some of their wishes and worries to their dozy owners, or simply share a thought on it, we welcome you to the Terms of Services category. This is your safe haven to pour your heart out, with no terms and conditions attached.
3. Magic Realism
It’s always a wondrous feeling when you have a dream about a magical world — a world of endless possibilities bound only by the limits of imagination of the dreamer. For this category, we would like you to imagine a fictional world revolving around the premise of something you probably have played around in your head: If only that dream were true. It could be a story inspired by the mythological folklores your grandma used to narrate or a story exploring the supernatural. So hop on your train at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters and let your mind wander deep into the oceans of mystical fantasies.
To participate, follow these steps:
1. Follow the publication ‘zerone magazine’: https://medium.com/zerone-magazine
2. Fill out this google form:

3. Write your article and publish it in your own medium profile. Add the tags: ‘blogging competition’ and ‘category_name’ plus any three tags of your choice.
4. Scroll to the bottom of your article and you will see the menu. In the menu, there is an option ‘Add to publication’.
5. Choose ‘The Zerone’ from the options. Now your article will be submitted as a draft to the magazine.
6. After checking the validity of your submission, your article will be published.

Note: Your article may fall into two or more of the aforementioned categories. It is up to you to select one. You can participate only under one category. Any form of literature (story/ article/ poem) is appreciated.
Few Ground rules:
1. One participant can only submit one article. You can submit your article at any time from Jan 23— Feb 6.
2. Submission of previously published articles is strictly forbidden.
3. Plagiarism is strictly forbidden. If the article is found to be copied from any external source then, the participant will be disqualified.
4. Direct or indirect advertisement of a particular company or profitable organization within the article is strictly prohibited.
5. You are allowed to attach images or videos within your article.
The winners’ articles will also be featured in the printed form of Zerone magazine.
