Zerone 2023 Online Article Competition Guidelines
Continuing with our proud tradition here at Zerone Magazine, the Zerone Team 2023 is proud to announce the annual Online Article Writing Competition with a total prize pool of NRs. 25,000!
The prizes for the competition include,
- NRs. 7500 for the best overall literary work in each category decided by the Zerone Team 2021.
- NRs. 2500 for the most popular literary work which will be decided by public voting on social media.
The competition deadline is the 21st of December (6th of Poush) at 11:59 PM NST (UTC +5:45). The entire competition will take place online, in the Medium publication of The Zerone Magazine.
Categories
1. Beauty of Monotony
Sometimes life becomes so hectic that you just want to sit and take a breather. You want to think about how wonderfully the clockwork works even if you are functioning in auto-pilot mode. The exceptional quality of life can’t be attributed to a collection of extraordinary events but rather to an accumulation of ordinary ones. Monotony in life can often be a blessing. For this category, we would love your take on this very concept of life. So, share your thoughts with a story: yours, someone else’s, or entirely fictional, a funny incident, or simply an enthralling description of your daily routine.
2. Tell Me Your Dreams
Every day begins with a dream. You dream of slaying a dragon in a cotton candy battlefield with an axe; you dream of snowy mountains; you dream of your crush professing their love for you; you dream of missing a bus. It's also your dream to have a home, a partner, and a comfortable life, and you're working hard to attain all of them. We'd love to hear about them. We would like to know your dreams, as vivid or vague as they may be. Let your heart out about the thoughts you wake up with, whether it is your life goal or the time a dinosaur chased you across the field.
3. The Plugged-In Generation
From surfing the internet in outer space to catching Pokemons at our local mart, we have conquered and connected every corner of this universe we can explore. Sometimes, it feels as if we are a little bit too connected in an online reality that isn’t really our choice. It has become increasingly difficult to find a 5-year-old who doesn’t know TikTok. It has also become difficult to imagine a scenario where we can only talk to our cousins abroad using postal mail. Maybe we’ve put ourselves into a corner by growing ever more reliant on technology, or maybe this is how the natural progression of things should be. Share with us your opinions about how you feel about the new generation growing up with the internet at their fingertips and getting ‘plugged-in’ to this digital universe. Ethical questions, the artificiality of things, progression towards The Matrix-Esque future, dreams of a tech-utopia — this is your letter to this hyper-connected generation.
Steps To Participate
1. Follow the publication ‘zerone magazine’ (you can not submit articles to our publication if you haven’t followed our magazine, so DO NOT miss this step):

2. Fill out this registration form for Online Article Writing Competition 2023: https://bit.ly/ZeroneOAWC2023
3. Write your article and publish it in your medium profile. Add the tags: ‘blogging competition’ and ‘category_name’ plus any three tags of your choice.
4. Scroll to the bottom of your article and you will see the menu. In the menu, there is an option ‘Add to publication’. You can also access this option from the top right corner of your screen when you are editing your article/draft.
If the option to add to The Zerone is not available yet, it means you missed the filling up of the registration form. We need to manually add you as a writer for our Medium magazine for you to get this option. Email us at ioezerone@gmail.com if you did fill out the form if you need to correct some details or if you still haven’t gotten appropriate permissions to publish after 1–2 days.
5. Choose ‘The Zerone’ from the options. After you click select and continue, you will be prompted to review and submit your draft. Now your article will be submitted as a draft to the magazine. Add any additional tags you feel necessary (as you did in step 3).
6. After checking the validity of your submission, your article will be published.

Note: Your article may fall into two or more of the aforementioned categories. It is up to you to select one. You can participate only under one category. Any form of literature (story/ article/ poem) is appreciated.
Few Ground Rules
1. One participant can only submit one article and under one category only. You can submit your article at any time within the submission period.
2. Submission of previously published articles is strictly forbidden, including your own articles that have been published in other magazines.
3. Plagiarism is strictly forbidden. If the article is found to be copied from any external source then, the participant will be disqualified.
4. Direct or indirect advertisement of a particular company or profitable organization within the article is strictly prohibited.
5. You are allowed to attach images or videos within your article.
6. The language of publication for the magazine this year is English. While small snippets of other languages are acceptable, please provide a translation in a footnote or in a bracket and italicize the word used.
