What happens when the brightest corporate minds meet superfast digital payments? And what happens when this takes place within the cash-strapped demonetisation backdrop?

It results in a cashless Solstice 2016!

That’s right, we’re talking about ISB’s annual homecoming for alums which went cashless for the first time in 15 years. The three-day (16–18 December) networking and entertainment extravaganza attended by over 1,500 alumni members and more than 500 students and faculty members was a completely cash-free zone. How did it all come about, you ask? With Zeta.

Prepping Up

In the run-up to Solstice, we put our best foot forward to consider ways in which executives who are already used to innovative tech payments could be ‘wowed’ by Zeta. The NFC-powered Super Tag which just lets users ‘tap to pay’ was selected for its quick and hassle-free payment experience. Each attendee was also to receive a Mastercard powered Zeta Super Card to continue transacting digitally with over 11 lakh Zeta accepting merchants across India.

For the 20 merchants participating in the event, Zeta would offer superfast payments acceptance when customers simply tapped their tag on the vendor’s NFC-enabled mobile device, taking away change hassles and pilferage concerns.

Solstice Goes Purple

At Solstice, there was a dizzying buzz of activity as our 25 Zeta executives onboarded each alumni member and his/her family, as well as all students, faculty, and staff members onto the Zeta platform. Once the Super Tag was activated, payments were a breeze, and there was no need to think of cash at all.

Whether attendees were getting their funnybones tickled by stand-up comedian Kenny Sebastian, grooving to the EDM beats by VH1 Supersonic (featuring Lost Stories), attending the Amit Trivedi live performance or tuning in to Aamir Khan’s Talk Show, it was a cashless spree all the way, everyday!

A sneak-peek of the many events at Solstice ‘16

Thousands of transactions were completed at the event, and more than 1,600 people were onboarded on the Zeta platform. Transactions powered by Zeta were 100% successful, giving users all the more reason to become Zeta loyalists.

Here’s what some of the new Zeta users at the event had to say:

Just one tap and your payment is done. The transaction is smooth from the largest to the smallest denominations. Very user friendly and a great product. Well done Zeta! ~ ISB Alum, PGP Class of 2002

Solstice is here and Zeta has turned the entire event cashless. I wish them very well in this endeavour of making payments work out smoothly. ~ Marketing Faculty, ISB

Merchants were upbeat about Zeta as well:

At a time when our customers have been running out of cash due to demonetisation, Zeta has really helped us maintain consistent sales volumes. Hope we can continue using Zeta and drive more transactions on the app. ~ Zeta Merchant at Solstice

Many developments at Zeta are driven by ISB alums themselves. Solstice 2016 was a perfect way of giving back to the institution, and what better stage for Zeta than the first-ever cashless event of this scale!
