This is what AI “looks like”: intuitive visuals to develop more trustworthy technology
Automation made possible by artificial intelligence (AI) is witnessing a burst of growth. While the adoption of AI is speeding forward, our abilities to understand, audit and regulate this technology remains at an early stage of development. This inhibits our abilities to introduce trustworthy AI products into society. Our presentation demonstrates one strategy to promote trustworthy AI by displaying the technology using more intuitive and comprehensible visuals that diverse professionals can understand; we will demonstrate examples of these visuals on stage using our visualization tools that are freely available to the world so you too can see what AI looks like.
Dr Jason Behrmann is a marketing and communications specialist in Montreal’s artificial intelligence (AI) sector and currently occupies a director role at Zetane Systems. He has led the marketing initiatives at AI startups in industries ranging from healthcare to agriculture. As a long-time activist in the technology sector, he was the vice-president of the non-profit, QueerTech, and radio commentator and podcaster that informs the public about the influence of technology on sex and relationships. Jason completed his doctorate at Université de Montréal and post-doctorate at McGill, where his research focused on assessing the social and ethical implications of new technologies in healthcare.

L’automatisation rendue possible par l’intelligence artificielle (IA) connaît une croissance vertigineuse. Alors que l’adoption de l’IA s’accélère, notre capacité à comprendre, auditer et réguler cette technologie demeure à un stade précoce de développement. Cela inhibe notre capacité à introduire des produits d’IA qui inspire confiance dans la société. Notre présentation démontre une stratégie pour promouvoir une IA crédible en affichant la technologie à l’aide de visuels plus intuitifs et compréhensibles que divers professionnels peuvent comprendre; nous montrerons des exemples de ces visuels à l’auditoire, aidé de nos outils de visualisation qui sont disponibles gratuitement dans le monde entier, afin que vous puissiez vous aussi voir à quoi ressemble l’IA.
Dr Jason Behrmann est un spécialiste du marketing et des communications dans le secteur de l’intelligence artificielle (IA) à Montréal et occupe actuellement un poste de directeur chez Zetane Systems. Il a dirigé les initiatives marketing de startups d’IA dans des secteurs allant de la santé à l’agriculture. En tant que militant de longue date dans le secteur de la technologie, il a été vice-président de l’association à but non lucratif QueerTech, commentateur radio et podcasteur qui informe le public de l’influence de la technologie sur le sexe et les relations. Jason a complété son doctorat à l’Université de Montréal et son post-doctorat à McGill, où ses recherches se sont concentrées sur l’évaluation des implications sociales et éthiques des nouvelles technologies dans les soins de santé.
