Everyone wants to know what’s next for the crypto market — but some people make a living by analyzing and predicting its future movements. Today we are having a blitz interview with Ka Wai Lau, an analyst at Kintaro Capital fund.

Lau, hi! Could you please tell our readers a bit more about Kintaro Capital and the fund’s investment strategy?

We are a registered crypto fund in Malta founded in 2017. We believe in the long-term value of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, so we invest in coins with good future prospects.

This is one is a pretty obvious question: what is your general outlook for the crypto market at the moment? Where do you expect Bitcoin price to be by the end of 2019?

We are cautiously positive. We believe the market will gain momentum again in September, possibly reaching $19,000.

Altcoins have been lagging behind the flagship cryptocurrency during the recent rally — do you expect Bitcoin’s market share to continue growing? Or maybe altcoins are primed for a comeback?

Good question, as this has been surprising to other fellow crypto funds as well. However, I expect altcoins to catch up as Bitcoin’s selling pressure rises in the coming weeks.

Many analysts expect the impending Bitcoin halving in May 2020 to become a major factor as we get closer to the date. Would you agree? If so, to what extent is it already priced in?

I agree as this is what the last two halvings tell us. It is hard to say how much it is already priced in. If Bitcoin breaks its all-time high it will have unlimited room to grow.

To what extent does the trade war between the US and China affect the crypto market?

It seems to be affecting it positively at the moment, which makes sense as crypto could be a safe haven for investors who usually prefer more traditional assets.

Tell us a little bit more about your approach to crypto valuation. Which metrics or models do you use?

Quite a few things. One thing we value significantly is trading volume, as its trend reveals the sentiment of market participants.

Grayscale Investments recently reported a rise of institutional investors’ activity on the cryptocurrency markets. Kintaro Capital is a fund working exclusively with qualified and institutional investors — did you register any uptick in their activity in 2019?

We registered a small uptick in May.

Thank you for your time, Lau!
